Welcome to Part Two of this week’s blog.
This one’s all about where I’m at with my business, You've Got The Love.
If you read Part One that I shared earlier, the past few months didn’t go exactly as planned with being sick, family loss, and everyday challenges. That said, there were many highs as well. Check out this link for the full update on my personal life.
To get to the point faster, I've summarized this post into three different lists:
What did not work the last few months
The wins throughout the last few months
My business goals for the next few months
To kick it off (and move on from), here’s a quick summary of the things that did not go as expected in my business over the past while:
I didn’t post on social media for over a month
My last newsletter was on April 4th
I didn’t do anything for Mother’s Day (which is probably one of the biggest opportunities for my business - I had a whole elaborate plan for a new product launch and promotion)
I didn’t complete three of my five Q1 goals: post one video per week, hit $5.5K in revenue, and complete rebranding
I let the ball drop on a few things like my Wedding Collection give-away and my monthly “Unexpected Joy” campaign
Despite the above, there were many big wins over the past few months:
My mom came down for a visit and we attended two markets together where we sold much more than expected and, of course, got to hang and do business together. Her duck plant sticks were a huge hit and she was the best saleswoman ever
I was able to take time off and heal, and if I weren’t running my own business, I don’t know how I would have been able to swing that
I completed two of five Q1 goals: complete exceptional Valentine's Day launch and create a big picture product plan for the year
I attended a market in Ventura two Saturdays ago and had my biggest market sales to date. I sold over $1,900, which was honestly mind-blowing. I share this very humbly, and excited to continue my market journey.
In the past week, I created a new logo that I love and am excited to share. To give you a hint, the concept behind the design is “chicken-scatchy with its heart on the sleeve”, because that’s how I describe myself :)
I made some of my favorite custom orders over the month with some incredible people (photos below)
That pretty much catches you up.
Looking ahead, I’m feeling really excited about what’s coming and the new goals I’ve set. Here’s what I’m working toward from now through the end of August:
Hit $7.5K in revenue
Post three quality pieces of content each week
Send a weekly newsletter about life and business
Make something from my Wedding Collection for two weddings (I already got one on the books)
Attend two markets per month and keep learning as I go
You might recognize some of these goals... they’re almost identical to the ones I set last Christmas. But I kind of like that. It reminds me that growth doesn’t always mean something new. Sometimes it just means staying focused on what matters and giving yourself the grace to start again.
Thanks for being here and for following along.
I’m really grateful.
P.S. - For those that read Part One of this update... First, thank you for reading. And second, thank you to everyone to reached out. I was scared to share everything that I did (I've always been a more private person online, despite this blog). So it meant more than I can say.
P.P.S. - One of my main reasons I wanted to share my recent personal challenges was in hopes that people wouldn't feel so alone in whatever they are facing. Life is hard, and I really love being able to relate to or empathize with someone's story, so that I feel less alone. And my hope for you is the same - know that you're not alone in the struggle.
Love always,
Madison
